Herringbone design uses rectangular pieces of wood of equal size installed 90° to each other to create 2 lines. Herringbone patterned floors offer a more traditional classy stylish appearance and is commonly displayed in high-end properties. Its pattern style can enhance a small space to seem larger and dark areas seem brighter.
 
African Padauk is chosen by interior designers whenever they want a room to make a bold statement. Renowned for its bold red colour, this hardwood flooring makes even the smallest room seem bigger due to its vivid colour. Due to its high strength, durability and outstanding stability, this wood is ideal for flooring, high-class joinery, furniture, cabinets, etc.
                 
It is a unique open grained hardwood from Africa that has a bright Vermillion colour when first cut. The sapwood is white when freshly cut, but turns to brownish yellow or grey upon exposure. The heartwood is vivid reddish-orange initially, but it changes to bright red, red, with dark streaks, or reddish-purplish-brown or black over time. 
 
Colour variation between boards is reported to be slight & the grain is generally straight to somewhat interlocked. The texture is described as fine to medium and the wood is reported to have exceptional dimensional stability & exhibits negligible movement after manufacture.
