Herringbone design uses rectangular pieces of wood of equal size installed 90° to each other to create 2 lines. Herringbone patterned floors offer a more traditional classy stylish appearance and is commonly displayed in high-end properties. Its pattern style can enhance a small space to seem larger and dark areas seem brighter.
 
The most common wood floor used in the world is oak. white oak is the name of the tree, not the colour of the wood. Today oak wood is still commonly used for furniture, flooring, cabinets, timber frame buildings, etc. Oak wood has a density of about 0.75 g/cm3, great strength, hardness, and is very resistant to insect and fungal attack because of its high tannin content. 
 
The sapwood is light-coloured and the heartwood is light to dark brown. White oak is mostly straight-grained with a medium to coarse texture, with longer rays than red oak. A hard and heavy wood with medium bending and crushing strength, low in stiffness, but very good in steam bending. Great wear-resistance. a surface that will hold up to wear and use and resists dents.
 
The quality and consistency of the grain pattern is one of the characteristics that drives the price of an oak floor. The more consistent the grain, the more expensive the floor will be.
